Shooting the Worlds Heaviest Longbow
As Many may know I shoot really heavy equipment , 230# longbow for the unofficial world title . " Why? " is
the question I am asked most . Easy answer I can do it , and do it as easily as most shoot 60# bows .
I was injured a few times in the Army , I was in alot of pain , and could not shoot some of my heavy custom bows I had
grown so accustomed to shooting , So I rehabbed intensely until I was able to shoot them comfortably , well at the time ,
125# was heavy , then moved on to 147# and began hunting with them then to 177# , again worked enough until it was easy for
me to shoot a full tournement round ,6 ends of 6 arrows. Then I heard there was a guy that was able to shoot a 200# once ,
I laughed and said I can do it , easy, and still shoot as accurately , I had a 230# longbow made , hickory beautifully made
. It was massive but manageable , The day I got it I had to make a string for it , which took hours to make as its alot thicker
and I had to serve the loops all the way past the flemish twists. So after the 32 strand string was made, its time to take
her to the range , 1st outing was impressive, 5 ends of 3 arrows, I had only made 3 stout enough for the bow. All in atleast
the 9 ring at 20 yards . Shot VERY flat ,just sight right down the arrow .
I did it , I was the strongest , I was dog tired , but I did it .
I think I can do even more , but for now I shoot the bow twice to three times a week, then I soak in a hot tub , trust
me , I need it .
